No. Our annual turnover is
below the VAT registration threshold. |

Yes we have space for
at least four visiting cars, and parking is free. |
| What time can we
arrive? |
Any time you like up
to 9pm, but we need to have an idea of your ETA so that someone
can be around to welcome you. If you plan to arrive after 9pm
please let us know so we can make special arrangements. |
| When can we check
in to the room? |
Rooms are usually ready
by 4.30pm, often earlier, but you can still leave your car/luggage
even if the room isn't quite prepared. If we cannot be around
to meet you when you arrive, there will be a note on the door
with our estimated time of return. You are welcome to park up
and explore in the meantime. |
| What time do we have
to check out? |
Normally 11am, but any
changes will be advised when you check in. |
| Can we pay by credit/debit
card? |
Yes although there is
a 75p per adult per night surcharge. We take Maestro,
VISA, Mastercard, Delta and American Express. |
| Can we pay in Euros
(or other currency)? |
Yes, but the 75p surcharge
applies here too. |
| Can we leave our
car once we have checked out? |
Yes, up until 4pm, after
which time you may get blocked in by incoming guests, so best
to move it elsewhere if you will be later getting back. |
| What
is provided in the rooms? |
All bed
linen, TV, tea and coffee facilities, hanging and drawer space,
towels, hairdryer, mini-cooler... etc. etc. - we hope every
basic need is covered, but do let us know if you need anything
else and we will do our best to obtain it for you. |
| Do you take dogs? |
Not in the house, but some owners
let their dogs sleep in their car, which
is fine by us. |
| Do you take children? |
Yes, of all ages. Cots
and highchairs are available. |
| Do you take smokers? |
Sorry, smoking is now against the
law in the UK in establishments such as ours. We have no facilities
for smokers. |
| Do you take daytime
sleepers / is it quiet / can we stay in the house all day? |
Unfortunately we can't
guarantee you total peace and quiet at all times of the day,
as there will be breakfasts cooking, hoovering to be done and
other guests coming and going. We also have children, and accept
children as guests, so we cannot say for certain that tranquility
will reign at all times - especially when we are at our busiest
(the availability page will tell
you when we are busy). And if you want your
room serviced you'll need to go out at some point..! |
| Do you take long-stay
guests (i.e. several weeks)? |
Yes, depending on availability
of rooms, and the amount of notice given. |
| Can you cater for
disabled persons? |
The
Mendip Room on the ground floor is disabled-accessible

| Do you have
a National Accessible Scheme award or rating? |
No, we have decided not to participate
in this scheme. |
| Do you
cater for vegetarians / vegans / diabetics etc.? |
Vegetarians are catered
for as a matter of course, and with notice we can cope with
most dietary needs. |
| Can we hire bikes? |
Not from us but there is a cycle
hire shop in Cheddar. |
| Do you do evening meals? |
Only in very special circumstances,
and with 24 hours notice. There are so many pubs
and restaurants, some within a few seconds' within
walk, we cannot match the vast selection of dishes and prices
available nearby. |
| Do you serve alcohol? |
We have a drinks licence, but only
a limited selection of beer and wine. |
| How far are you from the Gorge? |
We're in it. |
| How far are you from the Cheddar
Caves? |
About three or four minutes' walk
from Cox's Cave, a little further to Gough's Cave. |
| How far are you from Wookey Hole? |
About 10-15 minutes' drive. |
| Do you let rooms
to
single sex couples? |
Yes, no problem. |
| Can we book the whole place
for a private gathering? |
Yes of course, subject to room availability,
and there is a block booking discount too. |
| Do you have a room that
more than two adults can share? |
Yes, the Quantock Room can take
three adults, two in a double and one on a folding bed. In its
king-size configuration, the Polden Room's bed can also sleep

| Do you have a pool / sunbathing
facilities? |
The front garden
and deck get the sun from about 11am to early evening. Our secluded
rear terrace is a good sun trap and an ideal private sunbathing
area. There is a standard public swimming pool 15 minutes walk
from us, or a small "leisure pool" in Wells (15 minutes' drive). |
As
you can see, with tidy parking
we can fit a fair few cars in our car park.
