If you get lost in the village, just give us a call on your mobile and we'll guide you in. When you arrive, please park as shown in the diagram opposite.
SAT
NAV USERS BEWARE!
Some Sat Navs are taking visitors up Birch Hill, the road to the left of the
chip shop. That's the wrong road! You want the road to the right of the chip
shop, The Bays. The graphic shows the approach from Tweentown on a
TomTom. When you arrive, please ring both doorbells. If there is no response,
please have a walk around and come back in 30 minutes or so. We're probably
out shopping, collecting the kids or otherwise tied up. If you need more information about routes to Cheddar,
visit the AA
route planner site to help plot your route.
Rail travellers coming from London will
have the enjoyment of a trip along Brunel's famous Great Western Railway,
through stunning countryside, the renowned Box Tunnel and also through the
city of Bath.
First Great Western timetable. For Cheddar, alight at Weston-Super-Mare,
and from the station pick up a 126/826
bus. The bus stop in Cheddar is in Tweentown, by the mini-roundabout at
the junction with Cliff Street (see map below). Journey time about 40 minutes,
buses run hourly (2-hourly on Sundays). You can also get off at Bristol
Temple Meads for
a more rambling bus ride across the Mendips, on the Chew
Valley Explorer Bus 672, 673 or 674, Journey time is about an hour and
20 minutes.
If you are coming by train, visit the
web
site for more journey planning information.
For air travellers there are scheduled flights to Bristol International Airport, offering good connections to Europe. We are just 20 minutes by road from the airport. Most guests arriving at Bristol and collecting a hire car are with us within an hour and a half of touch-down.
Express coaches from all over the country call at Wells, 15 minutes in a taxi or a short 126 bus ride from us. Bristol bus station is better served but requires a longer 672/3/4 bus journey to get to Cheddar. You can find out more about coach travel at the National Express Coaches web site.
